Critique Reflection

I feel that the composition of our shots is what we had done best. There were some scenes that looked really cool with how we decided to compose them. However I feel that our editing is a close second. The critique from classmates said that our tone and mood fit well with the acting. I feel that we could improve our acting and our costumes. The acting was  mediocre  it wasn't completely terrible but it could've been better. Costumes from scene to scene were inconsistent and we could've made sure they seemed more consistent than they were. When it comes to strengths I feel that my camera work was what I did best. To improve camera work I think I could find more creative ways to use the camera, making it seem a little bit better. A weakness that we had was not having a complete plan. Most scenes that we shot we didn't plan out a location for so I feel if we did this the entire process would've been smoother.

1. Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans 2. 3. September 23rd 1927 4. F. W. Murnau 5. Metropolis Summarizer

After Watching Metropolis, in your view, what is the Mediator?: In the world of Metropolis society can be separated into head and hands with the Mediator being the heart in between. The upper class living above ground is Metropolis' head with the workers living underground being Metropolis' hands. In between the two we have Freder as Metropolis' mediator and heart. By the plot's end Freder has successfully brought both the upper and working class together just like how a heart is what lets both the head and hands function together. Is Fritz Lang trying to influence us? Is he advocating for Capitalism? Communism? Fascism?: I feel that Fritz Lang is trying to influence us and he is doing this by advocating for Communism. The plot point of the workers rebelling against those who are higher up is similar to how the Russian government was overthrown by the workers in order to be equal. At the end of the story we see both parties standing together in hand. Being togethe...

Chase Scene

Camera Movements are used to create certain emotions in the watcher. Having these emotions allows the audience to watch and be engaged in the film. Filmmakers use camera angles to enhance their work by creating different moods and emotions. Different angles prevent  having the entire film be from the same boring angle, making the audience feel bored themselves.  I feel that our plot was very simple and well executed. If I were to complete this project again I would make sure that all my clips flow well into each other. I feel that the way that we had planned out each shot was well but when putting them together they didn't fit together as nicely as they could've.

Camera Angles

Reaction Shot: Establishing Shot: Worm's Eye:    Long Shot:   Over The Shoulder: Bird's Eye:   Close Up: Medium Shot: Point of View Shot: Eye Level Shot: Extreme Close Up Shot:
Filmmakers use the Elements & Principles of Design to enhance their work by adding variety to the way things look. Having only one camera angle or view point would make a film very bland, but when the  Elements & Principles of Design are used the film starts to stand out.
